Model DeSOTO/ Powermaster Station-Wagon

For Sale 1953 De SOTO Powermaster Station-Wagon. Asking 24,000.00 OBO.

This classic 1953 De SOTO Powermaster Station-wagon which in its time was built as a luxury automobile is "one of just 500 built for the year " and on pg 133 of Plymouth & De SOTO Buyers Guide of 1996 my actual wagon is shown. However it is misidentified as 1954 Powermaster Station-Wagon. This year was De SOTO’s  Silver Anniversary. For the Anniversary it boasted a new body design that was “larger on the inside and smaller on the outside”. It is a 6-cylinder L-head engine, which has 116 HP at 3600 RPM, aluminum alloy pistons and 250.5 cubic inch displacement. The engine is matched up with a semi-automatic fluid-drive transmission with Tip-Toe Shift.

This Wagons odometer reads 87,000 miles which I believe to be original based on the preservation of the interior. This adds up to only 1,600 miles per year. Dash and door panels were factory hand painted in a wood grain design to accompany the wood on the inside cargo area. This car starts up every time and has no leaks or mechanical problems. The engine is extremely quite and transmission is smooth. Since purchasing the Wagon I have made the following improvements; the very hard to find correct chrome roof-rack with wood runners has been installed, the N.O.S. factory sun-visor has been installed, the factory De SOTO hubcaps have been replaced with extremely rare De SOTO wire-wheel bolt-on hubcaps and the sending unit has been replaced. This Wagon seats 6 comfortably and is a great driver. Some cosmetic restoration is needed but I believe that the body and frame are sound and would not pose any significant challenges. Here is your opportunity to own one of the rarest station-wagons of the mid-century, probably fewer then 50 still exist today. This is a great deal that cant be passed up!
